Default value of required extension in conditional processing

In SVG conditional processing ( http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/struct.ht...onalProcessing ) there is "required extention" attribute. According to spec, the value of "required extension" identified by URL reference ( http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/struct.html#URIReference ). It is not easily understandable, what are the possible value. Can anyone give me one or two example?

In my opinion, SVG spec is very poorly organized and explained. Specially, if you need to develop an SVG player, it is very difficult and time consuming to understand the spec.

Yes, several people have said this. The spec is huge and very robust. Some people say that it tries to do too much and that it should instead do a few things better.

Developing a viewer is a mega-major undertaking. There are some great viewers already available.

As for "Conditional Processing", we do discuss a bit in the book :
http://learnsvg.com/html/bitmap/chapter05/page05-1.htm

However we did not tackle the optional "requiredExtension" attribute. I read it that this attribute allows viewers/users to check if an extension is available, and if so then display this bit of SVG code, otherwise, display nothing or another block of SVG code.

From the spec:
Quote:
"The URI names for the extension should include versioning information, such as "http://example.org/SVGExtensionXYZ/1.0", so that script writers can distinguish between different versions of a given extension."
You could fire off an email to the w3c.org/svg discussion list. They're often prompt and knowledgable : mailto:www-svg@w3.org

best,

Jon
